FOXBORO (CBS) – Seven players were missing from practice on Wednesday as the New England Patriots get ready to host the New York Jets at Gillette Stadium on Sunday.
Practicing in shells and sweats, the Pats were without wide receiver Julien Edelman (ankle), tight end Aaron Hernandez (knee), defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth (back), linebacker Jerod Mayo (knee), offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer (back), running back Danny Woodhead (ankle) and defensive lineman Mike Wright (concussion).

Hernandez has missed the last two weeks, and head coach Bill Belichick would not say if the second-year tight end will suit for Sunday or not.
“We’ll see how it goes today and based on how it goes today we’ll make a determination here tomorrow,” said Belichick on Wednesday. “It’s the same answer every Wednesday – put him out there, put him through warm-ups, see how it goes. If he’s able to do something, he’ll do it. If he can’t, we’ll try the same thing tomorrow. If he’s able to practice tomorrow, we’ll practice him. If he’s not, we won’t.”
For the Jets, offensive lineman Nick Mangold was limited in Wednesday’s practice. Mangold, New York’s best offensive lineman, missed the last two games with an high-ankle sprain, but hopes to return Sunday.
Jets receiver Plaxico Burress did not practice because of a swollen elbow, but is expected to play on Sunday.
