BILLERICA (CBS) – A local branch of the Ninety Nine Restaurant set a Guinness World Record on Saturday.

The restaurant in Billerica managed to put together a plate of nachos that weighed in at 3,999 lbs.

Broken down by ingredients, you’re looking at 1,000 lbs of Nacho Chips, 920 lbs of Monterey Jack & Cheddar, 460 lbs of Southwest Cheese Sauce, 460 lbs of Salsa, 460 lbs of Chili, 184 lbs of Jalapeno Peppers, 92 lbs of diced Red Onion,418 lbs of Sour Cream, and 5 lbs of chopped Cilantro.

The nachos were stacked on a giant, 70-foot, custom-made table in the shape of a horseshoe, the Ninety Nine’s logo.

Organizers used propane torches to cook all the nachos.

The restaurant pulled the stunt to commemorate nachos being brought back to the menu. But the event also helped raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Billerica.

Unfortunately the Billerica Board of Health will not allow anyone to eat these huge nachos. So what a waste of food. But still, good for the Boys & Girls Club.

If 3,999 lbs. of nachos is your idea of enjoying life, that is a sad, sad life.

Waste of food and money spent to put that together. In a struggling economy, this is the epitomy of what is wrong with people these days. Instead of being fiscally responsible, money is flushed down the drain on meaningless garbage.

I’m sure that the Boys & Girls Club could have done a lot with the money it cost to put those nachos together.
