Marshfield Murder Suspect Arraigned In Hospital

WEYMOUTH (CBS) – An illegal immigrant from Brazil was ordered held without bail in the stabbing death of his girlfriend in Marshfield.

Investigators say a manhunt began when Marcello Almeida stabbed 24-year-old Patricia Frois to death in a domestic dispute at the Village apartment complex.

Almeida stabbed himself after the attack.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Lana Jones reports

A plea of not guilty was entered in Almeida’s behalf as he lay surrounded by lawyers, a judge, an interpreter and media in the South Shore Hospital ICU Wednesday.

Scant mention was made of his immigration status at his arraignment, only that two passports were recovered from his home.

An investigation into the crime revealed that immigrations officials have no record of anyone by the name of Marcello Almeida (DOB June 12, 1970) having entered the country legally.

The killing was the first in Marshfield in a decade.
