Patriots Blog: Chung, Haynesworth, Dowling Out

BUFFALO (CBS)  -Safety Patrick Chung is out for the New England Patriots Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Chung had surgery during the week on his right thumb, and practiced on Friday with a cast on his hand.

Defensive Lineman Albert Haynseworth is also out after missing practice on Thursday and Friday with a back issue.

The Pats have a total of seven players out on Sunday, including tight end Aaron Hernandez, receiver Taylor Price, offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer, d-lineman Mike Wright and rookie corner Ras-I Dowling.

With both Chung and Dowling out, the Patriots secondary will be extremely thin. Not a good thing when you're taking on the best offensive in football over the first two weeks.

Ventrone Gets A Promotion

The Patriots have promoted safety Ross Ventrone from the practice squad.

New England had an open roster spot after letting go Dan Gronkowski over the weekend.  Expect Ventrone to really take part in the special teams.

The Pats did not make any other roster moves so that means that punter Zoltan Mesko is good to go.  He had a good day of practice on Friday.

Cheap Seats

Driving into the stadium it is amazing at how cheap it is to see a game here.  Parking was anywhere from $10  to $20, and that was all within a half mile of the stadium.  Food was $2 for a hot dog and a dollar for water.

Plus the fans here are out in full force to support their team. It will be quite the scene in Ralph Wilson Stadium for the game, so the Patriots will need to try and take the fans out early. Otherwise it will be a tough place to play.

If you were to put this atmosphere in San Diego, well, then you might be on to something...
