Young Father Victim In Avon’s First Murder In 15 Years
AVON (CBS) – Avon police are looking for suspects in the first murder there in 15 years.
Monday night, about 9:30, 23-year-old Kristopher Rosa and his girlfriend left his father’s house.
A short time later, police say the two were in the parked car when another vehicle pulled up, fired several shots at them and drove off.

Rosa’s girlfriend, the mother of his child, was in the car, but was not hit by the gunfire. She drove him to Good Samaritan hospital in Brockton where he died.
“This was not a random act of violence,” said Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey. “The people of Avon should not be worried. This young man was targeted.”
Investigators said Rosa was well known to police.

But Alfredo Rosa cannot understand why someone would want to kill his son, who had a 5-month-old son of his own.
“He was working so hard, and taking care of his 5-month old son…and now this,” he said.
“Everyone loved Kris,” said his sister Michelle.” And he was always smiling. I don’t understand. We need some answers.”
Alfredo Rosa says he’s sad that his grandson will grow up without his father.
“I raised my children telling them: your child will always be there. You have to love and care for them,” he said. “But now, his son will never know him.”
Police have yet to make an arrest.
The last murder in Avon, a town of 5,000 people, was in 1996.
