Mississippi Woman Confesses To Cohasset Baby Hoax Call

COHASSET (CBS) – A 44-year-old woman from Biloxi, Mississippi will be charged with making the hoax emergency call to Cohasset Police, saying she was giving birth.

On July 25, Cohasset Police received a call from a female saying she was giving birth to a baby behind a gas station in Cohasset Village. Police and fire crews searched frantically for over an hour before officers determined it was a false call.

The suspect, Connie Olson, is homeless and mentally ill.

Earlier this month, Cohasset Police Detective James McLean investigated an identical incident in Tallahassee, Florida. McLean contacted detectives in Tallahassee and was able to determine that Olson committed similar crimes in California and Alabama.

Cohasset police called Olson and she ultimately confessed. She will be arraigned in Quincy District Court sometime in October.
