Toucher & Rich: Rob Gronkowski On Childhood, Patriots Offense

BOSTON (CBS) - New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski had six receptions for 86 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's win over the Miami Dolphins.

On Thursday morning he joined Toucher & Rich, as he will every week during the Patriots season, to talk about growing up with four brothers, the ladies, and the Patriots offense.

Gronkowski filled the guys in on what it was like to grow up in a house with four brothers, where there were holes in the wall everywhere and fights occurred on a daily basis. He also talked about some of the games they used to play, including one called "Zoom," where two of them would put a pillow under their shirt, run full speed and slam into each other. The winner was the whoever remained standing.

Rob's older brother, Dan, signed with the Patriots in the preseason, and right now the two are living together while Dan looks for a place. Do they ever go down memory lane and get a good match of "Zoom" going?

They also went on to talk about who he goes out with from the team and picking up ladies. Which Patriot serves as Gronk's wingman?

Everyone has been talking about Chad Ochocinco's issues grasping this Patriots offense. How long did it take Rob to grasp the intricacies of the offense?

"It definitely takes awhile, it takes a lot of hard work," said Gronkowski.  "It takes awhile for sure, but after a while if you work, it comes along."

"There is so much to learn, you just have to keep studying every day. No matter how much you know, there is always more to know to get better," he said.

Gronkowski set a Patriots rookie record in 2010, scoring 10 touchdowns. He has become one of Tom Brady's favorite targets, especially in the Red Zone. But even with his monster numbers in his first NFL season, the Patriots tight end has remained humble and knows it is a team sport.

"We have a lot of great receivers, a lot of great running backs and a lot of great play makers on the team. I just need to keep going out there, doing what they tell me to do; doing my job. Whoever Brady goes to, I just know he goes to the open guy. If I get open, he's going to go to me," said Gronkowski.

Tune in to Rob Gronkowski on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich every Thursday morning at 7am throughout the Patriots season.
