BILLERICA (CBS) – Students at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School are being sent home early Thursday because of concerns about a bomb threat.

Billerica police told WBZ-TV someone found the threat on a note in a bathroom in the school around 8 a.m.

The school was evacuated as a precaution.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Investigators are going through the school looking for any evidence in connection with the threat.

More than 1,300 students from Billerica, Bedford, Burlington,Tewksbury, and Wilmington attend the regional school, according to its web site.

    School has just begun and the over-reaction by police and school administrators has also ……….just begun. If school is going to be
    cancelled every time a kid writes on a wall or a piece of paper, then
    society might as well throw in the towel. Kids who hate being in school
    will do anything to get another day off. Metal detectors, police or security people in the halls makes you wonder if this is America or Kabul.

    i go to the tech, everything was fine we stayed in school and had a normal release. no one was hurt, i know the kid who found it.

    I would like to know who told media that school would be let out at 12;30.. Many stations reported this but I don’t remember anyone saying where that info originated.
