Curious About DiMasi's Pension

I'm curious if Mr. DiMasi will lose his pension in light of the recent conviction in court.  It would seem to me if he were to be found guilty of such an offense, he should lose the right to claim his pension.  - Karen, Boylston

Yes, at least temporarily.

Today the state Retirement Board voted to suspend Sal DiMasi's pension.  A future hearing will decide if it should end permanently.  In June, the former House Speaker was convicted of corruption and last week, a judge sentenced him to 8 years in prison.

His pension is about $5000 each month.

DiMasi has been ordered to report to prison on Nov. 16th, but his lawyers have filed a motion asking that he remain free while he appeals his conviction.
