BOSTON (CBS) – After a record setting performance, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Brady threw for a franchise record 517-yards and four touchdowns against the Miami Dolphins in Monday night’s 38-24 victory. He completed 32-of-48 passes and became just the 11th NFL quarterback to throw for 500 yards or more in a game.
Brady’s 517 yards are the fifth highest in NFL history.
It is the 18th time in his career that Brady has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor. Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is the only player to have been selected for the award more often than Brady with 20 Player of the Week honors.
Brady is now tied with Dolphins Hall of Famer Dan Marino for second place.
The Patriots quarterback is also a nominee for the FedEx Air Player of the Week, going against Aaron Rodger of the Packers and the Bill’s Ryan Fitzpatrick. Fans can vote online from 9 am Tuesday to 3 pm on Friday.
