Report: Man Charged With Raping Woman At Meriweather’s Foxboro Home
FOXBORO (CBS) – A Mississippi man has reportedly been charged with raping a woman at former Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather’s Foxboro home this summer.
James Roberts of Biloxi, Miss. is free on $10,000 bail, according to the Attleboro Sun Chronicle. The 29-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges at his Aug. 25 arraignment, the paper reported.
The alleged assault reportedly occurred at Meriweather’s home on Payson Road in Foxboro on July 13. After an investigation, Foxboro police arrested Roberts when they spotted him leaving Meriweather’s home in late August, the paper said.
Roberts is due back in Wrentham District Court on Sept. 20.
Meriweather has not been charged in the incident. A spokesman for the Norfolk County DA’s office told the paper that there has not been “allegation against anyone but Roberts.”
Meriweather was cut by the Patriots on Sept. 3 and signed with the Chicago Bears the next day. He tallied 12 interceptions and earned two Pro Bowl appearances over four years in New England.
