Beverly Police Offer Reward To Track Down Arsonist

BEVERLY (CBS) - Police and Fire investigators in Beverly are looking for the arsonist who set a fire destroying a home and three cars.

They are offering a $5,000 reward for information on the fire at 1:25am August 25th.

"It might have been random, which is really scary to think about," says Catherine Frost, who called 911 when she woke up and saw the fire at the home across the street on Folger Avenue.

WBZ-TV's Christina Hager reports

A few hours later in the same neighborhood, another car was set on fire on Hersey Avenue. There were other incidents around the same time period in the Ryal Side neighborhood. "A lot of my friends' cars were vandalized and broken into," says Frost.

The fire melted the siding off a home next door, where Ron Carnevale is hoping the reward will generate new ledes. "Everyone in the neighborhood keeps the lights on, all night long…They're just so terrified."

Beverly police and fire investigators are working with authorities in Danvers, and looking into whether the arsons are connected to recent incidents there.

People can give information anonymously on the Beverly Police Department website.
