Phone Apps Simplifying House Hunting

BOSTON (CBS) - Those of you in the market for a new home know that house hunting is hard work.

Listings on the web have made the process easier. But now, some mobile apps are taking it one step further.

A growing number of mobile applications allow you to find homes for sale with a single tap of your finger.

WBZ-TV's Paula Ebben reports

"These apps changed the way i look for property," says Susan Bot, who is looking for a new home.

Using your phone's GPS, the apps pinpoint your location and pull up available properties on a map.

For Susan, accessing these details on her phone allows her to check out more homes in less time.

"My broker can show me a place on Tuesday and then on Thursday, then I can go to an open house on Sunday and I've just eaten up my week. But using the apps, I can be looking while I'm out with girls," said Susan.

You can also instantly call the seller's agent or download open houses directly to your calendar.

There are apps available for all mobile devices and most of them are free.

In fact, one of the most downloaded apps on Realtor.com reports its users have spiked 40 percent in the past three months.
