Hardy & Trupiano With Andy Hart: Patriots Fall In Last Preseason Game

The Patriots closed out their preseason with an 18-17 loss to the Giants at Gillette on Thursday night.

Andy Hart from Patriots Football Weekly joined Hardy & Trupiano, who were filling in for Toucher & Rich, about this last preseason game, Albert Haynesworth getting into his first game as a Patriot, Ryan Mallett's performance, Brandon Meriweather and Chad Ochocinco.

Everyone was waiting to see Haynesworth and last night their wishes were answered. Was Hart surprised he took the field?

"Yeah a little bit. I thought this was going down the road of the Randy Moss where the big name addition would just get debuted in the regular season, maybe take teams by surprise," was Hart's thought on the matter.

"I don't know how much to can take from it with the Giants only dressing 50 something guys and none of their starters playing. But, as Haynesworth said I think it's goo for him to knock some rust off and get in some game reps," Hart said.

They also discussed other players getting their debuts such as Ras-I Dowling, Shaun Ellis and Mike Wright. The guys also talked about Ryan Mallett getting knocked around by New York. Does this secure Brian Hoyer's job as backup to Tom Brady?

They also discussed Brandon Meriweather playing late in the game. what did Hart think of Meriweather playing with guys who will most likely not be there after cuts on Saturday? Could he potentially be cut?

"That's the question of the day from last night into this morning. I think Meriweather was caught a little off guard by it in the postgame locker room. I can't see him getting cut at this point and i know that's where everyone is reading into it," Hart told the guys.

Chad Ochocinco and Tom Brady were able to connect early in the game for a 9 yard completion. Is Ochocinco going to get it eventually?
