Patrick: Most Homes Should Have Power Tonight

FRAMINGHAM (CBS) – About half-a-million homes and businesses across Massachusetts were still without power Monday, but Gov. Deval Patrick said most should have electricity restored soon.

"Most of the utilities are telling us that most households should have power by tonight. But there's a lot of work here to do in clearing trees, clearing limbs and getting power restored so just we ask for people to be patient and to be cautious as well."

At the peak of Tropical Storm Irene Sunday, about 700,000 customers had lost electricity.

The Governor returned to Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency headquarters Monday afternoon to meet with authorities after touring damaged areas in Greenfield in western Massachusetts.

Patrick said 15 teams went across the state Monday to assess damage at 76 different locations.
