“(Jacques) initially began to come in, but when he reached shallow enough water to be able to walk, he began to walk away from the troopers. The troopers told him to stop and he began running,” Procopio said.

“The young man ran along the beach, and then ran across Hull Shore Drive in attempt to evade the troopers. He nearly caused several motor vehicle crashes as cars had to take evasive action to avoid hitting him. He then ran up the driveway of the Clarion Hotel.”

The Staties should have let him continue surfing until he lost his board. They should have then let him swim to shore without any assistance & if he couldn’t
make it, who cares? There will always be morons who enjoy tempting fate so as to get their 5 minutes of fame but my feeling is that they should do it at their own risk. No big loss.

If the Staties are going to start arresting people simply for being stupid, we are going to need a lot more prison cells.

I’d like to know what they’re going to charge him with. Last time I checked, surfing wasn’t a crime. And state law doesn’t apply below the high-water line.

  5. Jane O says:

they should’ve left him alone. if he got in trouble too bad. There were far more important issues to deal with than this suicidal idiot.

II saw this happen. The guy had no surfboard. No protective gear. He looked like a perfect candidate for hypothermia. He also looked half in the bag and thought it was hysterical that he was running from the police. Of course stupidity isn’t a crime. Just chalk it up to one mother who will be happy that her not so bright son didn’t die being an idiot.

Another highlight is a number of upside down relics to see whilst snorkeling or perhaps scuba diving. It is possible to book snorkel products at the beach regarding $10.SUP
