Boston Police Seek Public's Help Finding Elderly Man Before Storm

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in finding an elderly man that has been missing since Friday. The 71-year-old man has not been seen or heard from since around 8:00p.m. when he left his house.

The man suffers from dementia, and generally walks from his house to surrounding areas in East Boston such as Constitution Beach, Saratoga Street, Winthrop and Bennington Streets and Dunkin' Donuts.

The missing person is described as:

  • Name: Gerald (Jerry) Govostes
  • Age: 71 years of age
  • Race: White non-Hispanic
  • Height: 5'9"
  • Weight: 180 pounds
  • Build: Stocky
  • Hair: Gray Hair
  • Eyes: Brown

Govostes was last seen wearing a white and black colored leather cap, a black, red and white colored plaid long sleeved shirt, khaki pants and gray New Balance sneakers.
