Police: Lynn Dad Leaves Son Home Alone To Steal Copper From Park
LYNN (CBS) – Lynn police say a man left his young son home alone in the middle of the night so he could steal copper from a park.
Thirty-six-year-old Galen Ruby was arrested at 4 a.m. Friday moments after police say he stole copper parts from newly installed light towers at the Bowser Complex baseball field.
The undercover officers who caught him were patrolling the area because several brass fittings were stolen from the light towers recently.
During the arrest, police say they learned Ruby's eight-year-old son was left home alone.
Officers went to the house, found the boy asleep and brought him to his mother in Saugus.
Ruby will be arraigned in Lynn District Court Friday on several charges including larceny, trespassing and vandalizing utility company property.
