On Cape Cod, resorts, churches and caterers are scrambling to move their seaside events at the last minute. One wedding planner told WBZ-TV she has had brides in tears this week as they watch the forecast threaten their plans to exchange vows on the beach.

She said they have had to reschedule weddings and in some cases, couples have lost their wedding deposits.

Wedding insurance is certainly something worth considering generally.

However, insurance usually wouldn’t be valid (at least not here in the UK anyway) for covering an event you already know about, e.g. Hurricane Irene. Insurance usually only covers you for “unforeseen” events.

This is hurricane season for the Atlantic. Any events planned during this time are in jeopardy of being interrupted by and event such as Irene. It’s very unfortunate for anyone who has planned their wedding and cannot recover expenses.
