Brady, Patriots Have Heard Jets Super Bowl Predictions Before

FOXBORO (CBS) – This should come as no surprise, but the New York Jets are already saying this is their year to win the Super Bowl.

The statement sure did not catch Patriots quarterback Tom Brady off guard.

"We've heard that for a few years," Brady said Wednesday when asked about it during his media session at Gillette Stadium.

The Jets have made similar statements the past two years, but fell just short in the AFC Championship game each time.

The Patriots have Super Bowl aspirations of their own, but you will not hear them talking about it.

"You've don't ever hear us talking too much about that. I think there is a long way to go between now and the regular season," said Brady, more focused on the Saturday's game against the Detroit Lions than the big game in Indianapolis in February. "We have a pretty important preseason game coming up, and all these games are important for us."

"It's so far away at this point, we've got other things on our mind," he said.

As for keeping tabs on New England's rival, Brady said he stayed in touch with anything the Jets were doing over the offseason. But that is no different for any other team in the NFL.

"Sure, I pay attention to every team," he said with a smile.
