LAWRENCE (AP) — Three people were stabbed, a firefighter was bitten and a woman was slashed with a razor when drunken crowds lingered outside several Lawrence clubs at closing time over the weekend.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Bernice Corpuz reports

Police Chief John Romero called the scene early Sunday morning “complete chaos.”

Outnumbered Lawrence police needed assistance from state troopers and officers from neighboring Methuen to control the unruly crowd estimated to number about 800.

In addition, the front window of one club was shattered during the violence.

Police say one woman was held on the ground by several other women and her forehead and temple were slashed with a razor, probably causing permanent disfigurement.

Three people were arrested for disorderly conduct.

Romero tells The Eagle-Tribune that alcohol is to blame.

Thank HEAVENS for 6 month leases. We lived in Lawrence for 6 months and had to file 8 police reports, of which the police did NOTHING. They STILL have my drivers side mirror waiting to be dusted for prints to see who vandalized not only my car but every car on my small block. My car got the worst damage though; it wasn’t just the driver side mirror.

Yet our illustrious governor WON’T do anything about it! The city is in shambles, the police department has been decimated by the mayor himself and the chaos continues. Time for a state takeover and some serious law enforcement enhancement to be put in place. We all know that won’t happen because Caddilac Deval wants the votes next time around. The feds ARE coming!
