Ellsbury Out Again As Sox Open Series In Texas
BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury will miss his third straight game as Boston opens a three-game series in Texas on Monday.
Ellsbury was hit by a pitch in the back by Royals reliever Everett Teaford on Friday. Although he stayed in the game and later scored a run, Ellsbury did not play Saturday or Sunday. He underwent and MRI and was diagnosed with a back contusion.
In his spot, Marco Scutaro will bat from the top-spot in the Sox lineup for the third straight game. Darnell McDonald will play centerfield and bat second.
