WINTHROP (CBS) – A man found unconscious on a walking trail on Deer Island may have been struck by lightning.

State Police troopers responded to the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority property after a cell phone caller reported finding the man.

The Winthrop Fire Department also responded.

The victim was transported to Mass General Hospital where he is in critical condition.

An investigation is ongoing.
