Mega Millions $32 Million Winning Ticket Sold In Dorchester

BOSTON (CBS) – A lottery ticket bought at a convenience store in Dorchester this week is now worth $32 million.

A ticket purchased at the Tedeschi's on Neponset Avenue was the only one with the winning numbers in Friday night's national Mega Millions drawing.

WBZ-TV's Paul Burton reports

The winner has not come forward yet, but he or she can't cash in the ticket until Monday morning at the earliest.  They have up to a year to claim the prize.

The winning numbers were: 5-15-53-54-56 and the Mega Ball was 22.

So how much will the mystery person take home?

The winner has the option of receiving the full $32 million jackpot in annual payments over 26 years or they could take a one-time lump sum payment of $22.9 million.

The store owner gets a $50,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.

According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, the last time a Massachusetts player won a Mega Millions jackpot was on July 2, 2004.

Geraldine Williams, a retired janitor from Lowell, won the then-record $294 million top prize.
