Obama’s Vineyard Vacation Day 1: Bookstore Visit, Golfing

VINEYARD HAVEN (CBS) – The First Family made their first public appearance on their Martha’s Vineyard vacation Friday afternoon.

President Barack Obama, his wife Michelle and their two daughters stopped by the Bunch of Grapes bookstore in Vineyard Haven just after noon.

A fairly large crowd gathered outside before the president’s motorcade pulled up.

It’s not clear yet what they bought inside.

WBZ-TV’s Jonathan Elias reports

The president shook some hands with the crowd before he left.

Mister Obama returned to his vacation home at Blue Heron Farm in Chilmark shortly after 1 p.m.

He dropped off his daughters and the motorcade went to the Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown, for a round of golf with partners Eric Whittaker, Marvin Nicholson and Michael Brush.

The President left the Vineyard Golf Club in Edgartown and arrived back at his vacation house at Blue Heron Farm at 6:30 pm. He and the First Lady then went to dinner at Beach Plum Inn at Menemsha.
