Woman Saves Two People Trapped In Burning Car At Gas Station

MANCHESTER, NH (CBS) - Many people see flames and stay away, but Becky Grosso, ran toward the flames to try and save a man and his five-year-old granddaughter who were trapped inside.

She says, "Adrenaline just kicks in and I really didn't feel much of anything except just go out there and get them out."

The 61-year-old driver had a medical incident and drove off the road, crashing into gas pumps.

WBZ-TV's Lauren Leamanczyk reports

The car burst into flames. Becky used to work as a volunteer firefighter and says quick thinking kept this from being a tragic story.

Gas station workers were able to quickly turn off the gas using a shut off valve.

Meanwhile Becky pulled the five-year-old from the fire. She was not hurt. Becky calls her a very special girl who was very grateful.

She gets emotional just thinking about her.

"I'm turning 50 on Thursday and I couldn't ask for a better birthday present," says Becky. "I'm so happy for her."
