Report: Bridge, Highway Repairs Millions Over Budget, Late

BOSTON (CBS) - Bridge and highway repairs in Massachusetts are millions of dollars over budget while running years behind schedule, according to a new report.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens reports

After looking through four years worth of paperwork, reporters for the New England Center for Investigative Reporting found that nearly half of more than 1,000 road and bridge projects are over budget, and one-third are not completed on time.

In the past four fiscal years, contractors added the equivalent of 425 years to the construction schedules, costing the state more than $350 million in cost overruns, according to the center.
