Reading Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

READING (CBS) - Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Reading.

The Middlesex District Attorney's office says the death of 22-year-old Joseph Ronan on Lawrence Street is suspicious.

Shortly after 1:00pm Monday, officers responded to reports of gunshots at the home.

WBZ-TV's Christina Hager reports

Neighbor Larry Goulet heard the shots fired a few doors down where police would then spend the afternoon and evening going through the home where Ronan was killed.

Goulet says, "All of a sudden I heard these two strange shots and that's how I'd characterize it, sounded like a small caliber weapon, one right after another."

Ronan was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

"He was a great young man," said Goulet. "I've talked to him lately because he was going into the Marine Corps at the end of the month and seemed like a real bright young man to me. It's very sad."

Neighbors say Ronan's parents were not home at the time of the shooting, but his grandfather was.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a white male in a dark colored SUV or van.
