BOSTON (CBS) – It looks like Sen. Scott Brown is going to have some high profile competition in his reelection campaign.

Consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren is taking the first steps toward launching a possible Senate campaign.

Democratic consultant Maryann Marsh told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 that Warren has started contacting top state Democrats.

In the current administration, Elizabeth Warren was the assistant to President Obama and special adviser to the secretary of the treasury.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens reports.

It’s being reported that an official announcement won’t come until after Labor Day.

Democratic Newton Mayor Setti Warren, who is not related to Elizabeth, has already announced his candidacy.
