No Bail For Man Charged In Brighton Murder, Police Standoff

BRIGHTON (CBS) - The man accused of killing a wheelchair-bound neighbor and drawing police into an armed standoff in Brighton Wednesday has been ordered held without bail.

Fifty-four-year-old Randy Moore was arraigned in Brighton District Court on one count of murder and two counts of armed assault with intent to murder Thursday afternoon.

Prosecutors say he shot 78-year-old William Thomas, his neighbor at the John J. Carroll Apartments, in the chest and then fired a shotgun at Emergency Medical Technicians and Boston police officers as they arrived at the scene.

It turned into a two-hour standoff that ended with Moore surrendering.
