A few days ago there was a report that David Ortiz was disappointed that the Red Sox had yet to approach him about a new contract, even though he’s had a very good year.
This surfaced days after Ortiz barged into Terry Francona’s press conference, upset over a scoring decision that took away an RBI he had originally earned. Then, we hear that it was Dustin Pedroia who started the entire “scoring controversy” by joking with the big guy that John Henry and Theo Epstein lobbied to have the RBI taken away.
Oh Dustin…
Now, Pedey weighs in on Ortiz’ importance to the team and his expiring deal.
“We want David here, everyone wants David here. He wants to be here,” said the Red Sox second baseman before Boston’s 4-3 win over the Twins Tuesday night. “The business side of baseball, it works itself out. The kind of year he’s having definitely puts pressure on the organization to sign him back.”
After listening to the Pedroia audio, Gresh & Zo give their thoughts on the whole David Ortiz situation.
