BOSTON (CBS) – New Patriots defensive end Shaun Ellis has landed on the active/physically unable to perform list.
Ellis officially signed with the Patriots on Monday but did not practice.
He can be activated at any time and begin practicing whenever he is deemed healthy enough to do so.
On Tuesday Patriots Bill Belichick told the media Ellis is “day-to-day,” but would not elaborate.
Tuesday’s move could simply mean he did not pass his conditioning test, according to WBZ-TV’s Levan Reid.
If Ellis were to remain on the PUP list at the end of camp, he not be eligible to return until after the first six weeks of the regular season.
