Few Leads In Search For Quincy Woman Missing For Weeks

QUINCY (CBS) - It's a case shrouded in mystery. A 23-year-old Eastern European woman missing without a trace since July 16.

Evelin Valibayova, a native of Azerbaijan was looking for new opportunities in America, her friends tell WBZ-TV.

Her Quincy apartment is empty and police say they have few leads to go on.

"We don't know where she is, did someone abduct her, is she in trouble, or does she want to be left alone. We have no idea," said Quincy police detective Jason MacIsaac.

She was last seen working her shift at Area Four, a Cambridge restaurant where police say she told a co-worker she couldn't she was leaving town on a business trip.

Clothes are gone from her apartment, as well as her computer and laptop, but the chargers were left behind along with her passport and immigration papers.

"Something bad has happened. It's pretty obvious you don't drop off the face of the earth like this in this day and age," her boyfriend Duncan Boyd tellls WBZ-TV.

Valibayova was also about to move, putting a deposit down on an apartment in Brighton that was available September 1st. Police stop short of calling it foul play, but the length of time she's been missing is a growing concern.

"Three weeks, no contact, it definitely raises the suspicion level," said detective MacIsaac. There's been no facebook contact, her cellphone goes unanswered, and there's been no activity on credit or bank accounts. Friends have hired a private investigator and have also set up a tipline for information.

The number to call is (617) 987-1085.
