Wayland Teen Indicted In Death Of Ex-Girlfriend

WAYLAND (CBS) – An 18-year-old Wayland man has been indicted on murder charges, in connection with the death of Lauren Astley.

Nathan Fujita was indicted by a Middlesex grand jury on charges of murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts), and assault and battery.

Astley, 18, was reported missing by her family on July 3rd. She was last seen leaving work in Natick that night around 7pm.

The next morning, a bicyclist found a body in a marshy area off of Route 27 in Wayland, that was later identified as Astley.

An autopsy found that she had died of strangulation and a wound to the neck.

Prosecutors allege that Fujita met with the victim at his home after she left work and killed her, dumping her body in a marsh.

Both Astley and Fujita graduated from Wayland High School in June. Prosecutors say they had been dating for three years, but the relationship had ended recently.
