Norfolk DA Wants Sex Offenders To Register Online Identities
BOSTON (CBS) - With the growing popularity of social media, the Norfolk County District Attorney says it's simply not enough to ask convicted sex offenders to register their home and work addresses with officials when they are released from prison.
Adding a line to the sex offender registry paperwork to list online identities is an issue Michael Morrissey has been working on since before he left the state Senate.

Morrissey says, "I think when you're asking for their residential address, then you should also be asking them for their e-mail address, and those identities they use on Facebook and other social media pages."
Morrissey admits it would be tough to monitor, but could be a valuable tool if a person is accused of re-offending
More than a dozen lawmakers have signed on as co-sponsors of the bill which could get a hearing in the early fall.
