Hello August! A Look Ahead After The Storms

What a great weekend! Temps climbed to 86-90 in many areas this afternoon..a little warmer than expected...as the Sea breeze waited until about 4 PM to finally kick in...but once it did it felt so nice....as maritime air has settled in for the evening.

Winds will be shifting to the SW overnight. In turn,  Monday will be a hot and more humid day with hazy sunshine and scattered afternoon storms. Most areas will reach near 90 degrees. See previous post for thinking on Monday's storm threat.

Once the front pushes off the coast Monday night, drier air will be on the move for Tuesday. The only fly in the ointment is a potent upper low which be sliding down over New England. This will provide cooler air aloft and allow significant cumulus development during the afternoon Tuesday and the potential for a few more scattered showers or a thunderstorm during the afternoon, especially across the north and NE MA. .An area of low pressure will sit over Nova Scotia and occlude helping to wrap cloud cover back into ME and down the coast. Breezy WNW winds help to dry things out for the South. Temps will still be warm in the mid 80's behind this front.

For Wednesday, we will be tracking a thunderstorm complex rounding a ridge over the Great Lakes and directed by our upper level winds into the Northeast to provide a chance of rain on Wednesday. Today is appears the upper Low sitting over us will help to direct much of this rain south of us. Bitter sweet since we could certainly use the rain. The Best chance for showers will be CT & RI...but it could miss entirely just providing some clouds for these areas. Elsewhere with mainly dry conditions...skies will be brighter with more sunshine...but cooler temps  in the 70's and Lwr 80's

We will remain dry through the Thurs & Friday period with warming seasonal temps around 82-85 degrees. This will be the best part of the week.  A front will during the weekend will push through providing a period of showers. It should be improving by Sunday.
