Lt. Gov. Tim Murray Named To Head National Group

BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray has been named the next leader-in-waiting of the National Lieutenant Governors Association.

Murray's fellow governors voted unanimously Friday to elect him for a term that begins July 2012. Nebraska's Rick Sheehy, who served the past year as chairman-elect, took over the leadership during the group's annual meeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Murray has served as treasurer and regional chairman for the bipartisan association. He will head the policy resolutions committee before beginning his term.

Murray says he is eager to share ideas and work with others on issues affecting all states.

Lieutenant governors are first in line of succession to the governor in most of the 50 states and the U.S. territories
