The Memorial Bridge, which connected NH to Maine, has been closed down forever.
PORTSMOUTH, NH (CBS) – A nearly century-old bridge that connects New Hampshire to Maine has been shut down.
Officials have decided the 88-year-old Memorial Bridge on Route 1 from Portsmouth to Kittery is too dangerous to remain open.
The two states are working on a replacement.
Construction of a new span is still about a year away.
In the meantime, drivers can still get back and forth using the Route 1 bypass and the I-95 bridge.
