Great-Grandmother Beats Naked Intruder With A Bat

Manchester, NH (CBS) - An intruder picked the wrong house to break into and the wrong great-grandmother to mess with in Manchester. 70-year-old Bonnie beat up the would be robber with a baseball bat.

Bonnie believes life is too short to be a victim. So, when she woke up to find a strange man in her home, she decided not to be one.

"Some stranger just comes in tramples over everything. It's very demeaning and I did not appreciate him being in my house. Period," she told WBZ-TV.

WBZ-TV's Lauren Leamanczyk reports

Bonnie was sleeping when the attacker cut through a window screen. He ate food in Bonnie's kitchen and he took off his clothes before walking upstairs. When Bonnie saw him he was outside her bedroom, naked.

"This person is standing there and I'm saying 'who are you? What do you want?' I'm screaming and he's not moving. He's just standing there."

When he wouldn't leave, Bonnie grabbed her baseball bat. "I said no, no. Not in my house. So I grabbed my bat and I hit him, a couple of times."

She says the intruder was bleeding when he left.

Bonnie says she can't be sure exactly what motivated the man to break in, but she thinks he wanted to steal from her. She worried about protecting her 21-year-old grandson down the hall.

She says her family is full of military members and police officers so she's learned a thing or two about self defense.

"You got to take care of yourself," she says. "You're not weak, be strong. There's always a way to protect yourself. Use it."
