Fitchburg Liquor Store Clerk Shot In Head

FITCHBURG (CBS) – A liquor store clerk is in grave condition after he was shot in the head outside work.

40-year-old Scott Person of Ashby had just finished his shift at JV’s Variety Store on Fairmount Street when he was shot near his car shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early Jr. said they are looking for several suspects.

Investigators have not commented on a potential motive. Neighbors describe Person as a friendly fixture at the corner store.

“He was a nice guy,” said Paul Merrill.

Said Jacquelin Bencosme, “He’s been great to me and great to my kids and very helpful to us and I can’t believe they did this to him. I feel like crying right now.”
