Accused Drunk Driver Crashes Into Chelmsford House

CHELMSFORD (CBS) - There was a rude awakening for a family in Chelmsford early Wednesday morning.

A driver lost control of his pickup truck on a curve on Acton Road, snapped a utility pole, and then slammed into the corner of a house around 12:45 a.m.

Police say the driver, 21-year-old Joseph Kimball of Clinton, was drunk.

WBZ-TV's Alana Gomez reports

"The house was knocked three or four feet off the foundation," Chelmsford Police Lt. Jim Spinney told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

"It's amazing to me that nobody was seriously injured or killed."

The house is no longer safe because of the damage from the crash, so the family will have to find another place to live.

Kimball was arrested. He faces several charges, including drunk driving.
