Barnstable Officer, A Little League Coach, Allegedly Drove Child While Drunk
REHOBOTH (CBS) – A Barnstable police officer is in rehab days after being charged with drunken driving and child endangerment.
On Saturday morning, 41-year-old Barnstable police officer Edmund Scipione was arrested in Swansea, and was charged with OUI and child endangerment.

Scipione was an assistant Little League coach and police said he was driving a 9-year-old boy to a game in Rehoboth. He got lost, though, in Dighton
The boy said his coach was driving "crazy" and suspected he may have been drunk. So, he made a scene, forcing Scipione to stop. He ran to a stranger's home and asked her to call his parents.
WBZ-TV's Bill Shields reports.
"I said, 'How did you make him stop?' He said, 'I just freaked out and made him pull over,'" said Liz Rome.
Scipione was later pulled over for drunk driving in Swansea.
Barnstable police said Scipione is now on sick leave and is at a rehab facility in Vermont.
Scipione has been on the force in Barnstable for 14 years. He was promoted to detective four years ago. He is due in court next month.
