Registration For BAA Half Marathon Opens Wednesday Morning

BOSTON (CBS) – Registration for the B.A.A. Half Marathon opens Wednesday morning online, and those who want to run the race better make sure they are around at 10am.

Registration for last year's race closed in just two hours, and B.A.A. officials expect this year's to fill up just as quickly. Potential runners can log on to the B.A.A. website and register starting at 10am Wednesday July 13 for the October race.

Due to the growing popularity, the field has been expanded from 6,000 to 7,000 this year.

"The popularity of our Half Marathon in recent years is indicative of the current boom in running, and especially here in Boston," Tom Grilk, Executive Director of the Boston Athletic Association, said in a release. "Bostonians make personal fitness a priority, and the B.A.A. Half Marathon is an event where personal fitness, collective well-being, and athletic achievement are in full form. We look forward to welcoming them by putting together an event worthy of their participation."
