Curious About Getting Rid Of Junk Mail

BOSTON (CBS) - It's not flawless, but the "do not call" list has helped cut down on those annoying telemarketer calls.

And that has Mark in Somerville curious about whether you can do the same for junk mail.

He writes, "Our household receives numerous credit card offers regularly. We've been receiving two to four mails each week from one bank. How do we get them to stop?"

There is a way.

The Federal Trade Commission has a website that allows you to opt out of unsolicited mail.

One option allows you to opt out for five years.

The other lets you opt out permanently.
