Driver Shot Near School In Dorchester

DORCHESTER (CBS) – One man in his 30's was shot near a school in Dorchester on Thursday.

The shots were fired from one vehicle to another traveling on Columbia Road after 2 p.m.

"The driver in the other motor vehicle sustained gunshot wounds and has been taken to Boston Medical Center and right now is in stable condition," said Randall Halstead, the Boston Police Deputy Superintendent.

The victim's vehicle turned left, traveling to the end of the driveway of Frederick Pilot Middle School. A bullet cracked, but did not penetrate a window at the front of the school.

WBZ-TV's Peg Rusconi reports.

Officials said around 30 kids were inside the school at a summer program at the time of the shooting. Police said that the kids were never in danger.
