Rosie’s Place Founder Kip Tiernan Dies

BOSTON (CBS) – The woman who founded Rosie’s Place has died.

Kip Tiernan passed away from cancer Saturday in the South End.

Rosie’s Place, founded in 1974, was the nation’s first shelter for homeless women.

Tiernan became an outspoken advocate for the poor and helped found numerous other agencies and panels.

She was 85.
