Historical Abigail Adams Letter Turns Up At Library In Weymouth

WEYMOUTH (CBS) - Just in time for America's Birthday, an historical artifact has turned up that dates back to the early days of our nation.

A letter written by Abigail Adams was just found tucked away at the Tufts Library in Weymouth.

Abigail was born in North Weymouth and married President John Adams.

She was also the mother of President John Quincy Adams.

The letter is written to her son Thomas in 1801 and signed "Mother A. Adams."

The framed letter was found inside a cabinet at the library, hidden behind a child's black slate.
