Former FBI Expert: Follow The Money To Uncover Bulger’s Trail
BOSTON (CBS) – Investigators are still trying to figure out how Whitey Bulger and his girlfriend Catherine Greig managed to stay on the run for more than 16 years.
A former FBI forensic accountant says they’ll do it by following the money.
“It had to have come from somewhere and it had to have been involved in some financial transaction, in or out of a bank, at some point,” Josiah Lamb told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Monday.

Authorities say Bulger had $800,000 in his apartment when he was arrested June 22 and they believe there’s more money out there.
Lamb said investigators are scouring over documents found in Bulger’s home, checking his mail and even his computer – if he had one – for evidence.
“The cash is going to be hard to trace,” he said, especially if it was loose money.
Lamb said investigators would get a boost if the money was wrapped and there’s a bank stamp on the wrappers.
The money trail should also lead to other people who may have helped Bulger during his time on the run.
“It’s only a matter of time before that happens,” Lamb said, adding that agents will be busy for “quite awhile.”
