21 Arrested In Major Drug Sweep At Lenox Street Housing Development

BOSTON (CBS) - Some of the city's most notorious drug dealers are off the streets after a major sweep by Boston Police on Wednesday.

Police conducted Operation: Tanglewood and targeted dealers in the Lenox Street Housing Development. The investigation was sparked by complaints from residents of the housing project.

Police said the dealers were so brazen, they repeatedly sold drugs to undercover officers out in the open.

"We've made it clear to drug dealers and criminals in our city that if you pick up a gun and use it we will be on you. And that's what happened with the Lenox group. They'll be out of circulation for the summer," said Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Bernice Corpuz reports.

In all, 31 suspected dealers were targeted.

Ten are still out there, but police said they're confident they'll be behind bars soon.
