FBI Launches Ad Campaign In Hopes Of Finding Whitey Bulger's Girlfriend

BOSTON (CBS/AP) -- The FBI is stepping up its efforts to find the girlfriend of fugitive Boston mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger.

They are hoping that, by focusing public attention on his longtime girlfriend, Catherine Greig, authorities may be able to track down Bulger.

On Monday, the special agent in charge of the FBI's Boston office announced a new publicity campaign and
accompanying public service ad asking the public -- and particularly women -- to be on the lookout for Greig.

The ad highlights Greig's physical characteristics, habits, and personality traits, and also emphasizes the age difference between her and Bulger. He is 81 and Greig is 60.

WBZ-TV's Christina Hager spoke to Whitey's former right-hand man, Kevin Weekes, about the new push:

The new ad is scheduled to start running in 14 television markets, including Boston, starting Tuesday.

Greig and Bulger disappeared in 1995 just before his federal indictment and they are thought to
still be traveling together. Bulger is wanted in connection with 19 murders.

There is a $2 million reward for information leading to Bulger's capture. The FBI just doubled the reward for help finding Greig. It's now up to $100,000. Greig faces charges of harboring a fugitive.

The FBI has in the past taken out ads in newsletters for dentists and plastic surgeons. Greig was known to have had multiple surgeries before she went on the lam and was known to visit dentists once a month for a cleaning.
